The vocal group Plamen started in 1991 when four girls of Slovenian descent wished to learn the traditional songs of their heritage. In 28 years Plamen grew from those humble beginnings into the polished amateur choir under the leadership of choir director Marija Ahačič Pollak. Some of Plamen’s most notable accomplishments are: being featured on Slovenian, Canadian and Austrian television; independently recording two compact discs; completing numerous tours in Canada and Slovenia.
FunEd is part of Planica Hunting and Fishing Club a non-profit organization of the Slovenian Heritage located just east of Bancroft and situated on 1000 acres of beautiful land with lots of forest, a lake and a spring fed pond. Through the volunteer efforts of members within our club, we have been running our week long FunEd Nature camp annually for over 25 years now. The camp premise is to build community within our club, teach our children about nature and respect for our land.
